The Acebook is a video portrait/installation project that I started on instagram in 2014. Using street documentation, journalism, poetry and the concept of beauty, I started this series after having left Portland, OR where there were so few people of African decent. When I returned to the east coast, I felt struck and in awe of our essence, style and expression. These video portraits were a way of capturing what I felt.
Video Portraits are moving images that capture individuals. There is little interaction aside from their posing or standing before the camera. It is a vulnerable thing that may or may not reveal a lot about an individual's essence.
